I tried some code i found on the forum so i think it had something to do with my code in the end.
I'll try to update this thread with the working code once i finished working on it
@modellhaus I suggest you two things for help, the first is to modify your post and please enclose your code in correct code balise ( </> tool in line above )to help reading .
The second thing is to post the error message and line number where it happen to help analysis.
I am using a W01 module connected via P0, P1 (the standard Rx/Tx lines of the serial REPL) to a FT232R serial-USB-interface. The FT232R is powered from USB.
By defining P0 (i.e. Rx) as input with pull down activated, it is possible to dectect if REPL (i.e. the USB) is connected (P0=1=yes)
It may be interesting to note that UART operation is not affected by having Rx(P0) declared as digital input simultaneously.
By this method, the module detects a serial console during boot and continues in REPL mode. If there is no active serial connection detected, it autostarts its application.
I am not sure if this works with a Wipy since the serial-USB interface may be powered from the Wipy, possibly making the status of Rx independent of the USB cable connection.
@seb I have not attached it yet, was doing the homework on what will work best.
Will try it on the 3.3V, might go with a digital reading as all I am looking for is a true/ false statement to activate the relay
I just test this and the behaviour is still as before. Trying to initialize the SD card without a SD inserted raises a OSError exception, which is OK.

i tested this on 1.5.0 and it worked - and if for @kanu it does not work
then i supposed that he tested this with current firmware
